I must admit, I have a new uniform. I am always trying to find an easy outfit to throw on that looks put together. This is it- jeans and a starched oxford. I was inspired while flipping through the J. Crew “Style Guide”. I was doing some research on a formula for layering (I haven’t figured that out yet), and I noticed that they put oxfords with everything! I have always loved a good oxford. At one time in my life I wore one everyday and so I have lots. Well, they are seeing a new life lately. I love that I have some that are light-weight (here) and some that are a heavier weight.
I like to tuck the shirt in and semi-pop (not a full pop but a partial pop- ha!) the collar when I’m going to be out and about.
But, when I’m at home the shirt gets untucked! A reader shared with me that she was looking for inspiration for her bedroom, and I’m always looking for convenient places to take pictures- so here’s my favorite place in the world, my bed(room)! It’s still a work in progress. My sister is an interior designer so I’m constantly asking her for advice, which she happily gives!
I don’t have an office so I decided to make a desk next to my bed. If you’re looking for a great looking but inexpensive chair, my sister posted on this one (here).
Did I catch your attention with my ugly foot? Ha! When I purchased my Converse I saw these Hue “no-show” liners at the check-out counter. They were just what I needed for my new tennis shoes! I passed on buying three pair for $16 and decided to try a single pair out first. Well, they are awesome and so I had to share! They have a sticky tab on the back that keeps them in place and also provides a little cushion for the heel bone.
I feel like, with any outfit, if you’ve got a great top it makes the rest of the outfit. That’s how I solved my rodeo “cowgirl chic” outfit predicament. When I saw this top in the Lucky catalog, I knew it was my solution. It was easy to put together because I already had the skinny jeans and boots, and although jewelry would be great with the outfit, I don’t feel like it needs it. Another reason I like this top is because it’s not just a “rodeo” shirt. I look forward to wearing it in the summer with shorts and wedge sandals, too. If this tops not YOUr style, check out Sundance here and Lucky Brand here for a top that is YOUr style. I’m loving both brands for “cowgirl chic”!
It’s Rodeo time in Houston- Yay! I love the Rodeo. I don’t get to go as much as I used to, but I still love it (I think I went like 9 times in 8th grade- ha)! If you’re not from Houston (well, maybe even if you are), you may be wondering, “What in the world- what’s so fun about a dirt arena, and who cares what you wear to it?” Well, I can’t explain the first part, but maybe my sister can in her post here. As for the second part, I’m telling you…some of these ladies know how to dress! Rodeo “Cowgirl Chic” (my name for Rodeo attire) can be kinda tricky, especially if you don’t wear boots everyday, like me. I thought I’d do a couple of posts on the subject to help those of you in the same predicament.
The denim on denim trend is so in right now (I even saw it on the Today Show as a trend to follow- ha!). So, why not pair it with your cowboy boots?! If you’re looking for a good place to shop for “Cowgirl Chic”attire, Lucky Brand (where my belt is from) has great, trendy stuff.
OK, so clearly a pear sweater isn’t for everybody but that’s what style is all about, right?!?! In Houston it’s been raining for what feels like years, although it’s only been a couple days. So, when I saw the sun through my bathroom shutters the other morning I knew I had to wear my sweater- it’s fun and sunny feeling. I guess you could say I was inspired by the sun. I’m a firm believer that if you see something that you LOVE and is just so “you”, buy it (if you have the money, that is). I actually passed on this sweater when I first saw it at J. Crew. It was during Christmas and I was supposed to be shopping for others, right?! But when I opened it up from my Father-in Law, I was so excited and kind of amazed! How did he know? Or did he just think it looked like me?! Moral to this story is, style is so personal so buy what you love! They say to do it for your home, so why not do it for your clothes!
Why a pear you ask? I can’t believe I’m actually about to write this- when my husband and I got married we had a pear theme. “The Perfect Pair” to be exact. How cheesy is that?!?! So cheesy, we even gave away pears as our favors!
