My husband and I are headed to the California Wine Country for our wedding anniversary this weekend. I’m so excited to have some down time to just “be” (can you tell by my picture? -ha!). If there is one person I can “just be” with, it’s my husband. I’m so grateful for where we are in our marriage. In 12 years of marriage, we have both grown as humans, which I’m learning is what marriage is designed to do, if we let it. And we are in a good spot! No, we have not always enjoyed marital bliss (is marital bliss really a thing anyway? I digress), but we’ve kept the faith, which is what matters.
So here we are taking a trip to celebrate 12 years of marital bliss (hahaha, jk!). It’s important to me that I really enjoy myself on this trip and not worry about what I’m wearing. I have had an entire trip ruined because of how I felt in everything I put on. Yes, the entire trip was ruined, just ask my husband! That may be shallow, but it’s true. Maybe I’ve matured passed those feeling, but probably not. So I gladly started shopping for this trip last week by scouring the Nordstrom site! How’s that for last minute?! Well, they make it too easy to get your items in just a day or two. Ha!
Anyway, I was so excited when I saw this dress because I knew it was going to be perfect for our travel day! I mean, can you get anymore comfortable?? It’s like I’m wearing a night gown! I’ll wear my army jacket for when it gets cold on the plane, and if I get sick of wearing it…
…I’ll wrap it around my waist! Boom, best travel outfit I’ve ever owned! I also wore it to a breakfast for my girlfriend yesterday. It was perfect- dressy but casual.
The next day I’m headed to the spa for half the day. My plan is to wear my new sweater with leggings to the spa.
We have a late afternoon wine tasting, so I’ll switch to my coated denim when I leave the spa for the tasting.
Then dinner is on the dressier side, so I have the option to tuck my new sweater into my pleated leather skirt from J. Crew, or…
On Saturday we will probably walk around, shop, and explore the town a bit. This flutter sleeve top is SOOOO on trend, which is why the less expensive price point is perfect. It probably won’t be on trend next season, since it’s SOOOO on trend this season.
It looks like I’ll be packing light this trip! I only have one pair of pants, and I’ll be wearing the same shoes the entire time! It’s kinda nice to have an excuse to wear tennis shoes all the time! My ankle is slowly getting better, but the last thing I need is to re-injure my ankle. Talk about ruining a trip! Maybe tennis shoes should be the shoe of choice for Wine Country anyway. Ha!
I’ll try to post some trip pictures on Instagram, and maybe I’ll do a few Instagram Stories, too!
