Legend

Have you ever heard about Texas Junk? I kept hearing about it when talking to people about finding “rodeo” attire. In my mind it was becoming one of those legends… this elusive place where you could find really great used, or shall we say vintage, western wear treasures. So, needless to say when my husband, who rarely (like never) wears western, needed some rodeo garb I decided that we MUST check this place out.

We were not disappointed! Look at this wall of boots! Check out the denim jackets hanging just above the boots.

My husband found these awesome lizard boots for $60 bucks! When you wear boots once a year who wants to pay lots of money for them? We took them to Pinto Ranch and they had them shined up to look “real nice”!

While he was purchasing his boots I found myself over in the women’s apparel section. Not much of a selection, but I ran across this REAL (according to my Dad and Sister) suede vest! I thought the tag was marked $17, so I asked the owner (a character straight out of a Seinfeld episode, btw) if he could come down on his price. He said, “nope 20 bucks”. I said, “wait, it says $17,”and I looked down at the tag again and realized it said $12.50. At that point I realized I was getting a deal- ha! Sold.

This is the other wall of boots, and behind this wall is another smaller room of boots. I’m telling you, there is lots of Texas Junk! Texas Junk is located at 215 Welch St., 77006 in the Fourth Ward/Montrose area of Houston. I’ll go back, but I’m lowering my expectations. I had such great luck the first time, I don’t expect it to happen again- ha!

To all my Wilson Wranglers- C.B. or T.G., might these be yours?

My husband told me about that place – before I venture over there, do I need cash in hand or do they take credit/debit? Any clue?

Hi there, love your blog! Used to live in Houston and visited Texas Junk Company often. Even bought boots there that I wore in our wedding! Great recommendation for your readers.
