When in Nantucket… wear stripes!
Functionality and place inspired this outfit. I knew I was going to be walking around all day, and you know I’ll wear my Nike throwbacks any chance I get! I wore the jeans for comfort and warmth, and I brought a cardigan for when it got chilly at night. The stripes, however, were a whole different story. They were inspired the moment I stepped foot on the island.
You see, I was originally wearing a grey muscle tee, but when I walked into Murray’s Toggery Shop on Nantucket (the only place you can buy the official “Nantucket Red” color of apparel), that all changed. I have been wanting a classic nautical stripe shirt to add to my wardrobe for some time, since it’s such a classic. Well, and I saw a picture of Cameron Diaz in a nautical stripe shirt on a yacht, need I say more? -ha!
Anyway, when I spotted a whole section of Saint James tops at Murray’s, I knew it was over. Saint James is the quintessential nautical stripe brand. They’ve been around since 1850, and according to J. Crew, they’ve been worn by style icons like Coco Channel, Picasso and Andy Warhol. So what did I do? I bought one and wore it out of the store! Well, when in Nantucket…
