What I Wore | September 29, 2015

1 Trip, 1 Pair of Jeans

This past weekend my husband and I went on a short getaway with our friends to Chicago. While packing, I got a crazy idea. I decided to challenge myself to wear the same pair of waxed denim jeans for the entire trip. I had a ton of fun with it, and my friends did, too! My friend’s husband even willingly agreed to document my experiment by taking pictures (he’s always the picture taker on our trips, and we are always laughing (maybe even rolling our eyes) at him). But this time I was so happy for him to take pictures, and my husband was excited to be off the picture taking hook! Nordstrom had asked me to share my fall denim pick with you guys, and I knew I wanted a new pair of black jeans (my old ones were looking faded and worn). I wanted something that was different, but not too different, and comfortable. This waxed denim pair seemed perfect (I would recommend sizing up)! I had no idea I was going to have so much fun with them. I also didn’t know how practical they would turn out to be! Don’t worry, Nordstrom didn’t ask me to do this experiment. That was all made up in my crazy head! See how my experiment turned out as I go from activity to activity in Chicago.

Day 1
Nordstrom Paige Denim 'Verdugo' Coated Ultra Skinny Ankle Jeans (Black Silk)

Here I am on the first day after we landed. We decided to shop on Michigan Ave., which was not my scene. It’s funny because as a fashion blogger, you would think I would like the fancy shops, but I don’t. But my waxed denim did make me feel “cool” in the fancy stores. Ha! It was chilly when we were walking the streets and warm when we went in the stores, so the easiest way to wear my jacket was by putting it over my shoulders and snapping the top snap. It made it easy to keep on while walking and easy to remove once we were in the stores. I have two friends that hate it when people wear their jackets just on their shoulders! I thought about them and laughed, because there really is a point to doing this (in this situation anyway).

Day 2Nordstrom Paige Denim 'Verdugo' Coated Ultra Skinny Ankle Jeans (Black Silk)On the second day, I knew we would be doing lots of walking. I wanted to be comfy, so I wore my new sneakers.

What I didn’t realize was how handy the waxed aspect of these jeans was going to be! During one ride on the subway, one of the only available seats had gook on it, but it was no problem- I had waxed denim on! Ok, I sat on the edge, but I think if I had regular denim on I would have just stayed standing!

Day 3

Nordstrom Paige Denim 'Verdugo' Coated Ultra Skinny Ankle Jeans (Black Silk)On our last morning, we walked down to Lake Michigan. I paired the black jeans with a blue and pink plaid shirt (on SALE) for a more feminine look, and I added a pink lip. After wearing so much black, I needed a change of pace!Nordstrom Paige Denim 'Verdugo' Coated Ultra Skinny Ankle Jeans (Black Silk)We couldn’t pass up the photo op in front of this charming fire station! I’m sure the fire fighter is like, “What is this girl doing? I’ll just look away” -ha!

I hope you guys enjoyed my little experiment. It worked out so well, I’m going to do this more often on short trips. It just made things so easy. If you try it, you have to tell me. It will make me happy!

Very cute pants! Silly question but I want to know how your hair looked so perfect after having it up during the day! Was it on a ponytail or clipped up? 🙂

You’re too pretty! Love the waxed jeans…not everyone could pull those off! And I agree with the above commenter about your hair…maybe you should do a tutorial…love how effortless it looks!

Great post! Flying to NYC with the hubs in two weeks and I’m getting so many great outfit ideas!! Can you answer a question about the jeans? On the Nordstrom page, it says low-rise in the description, but then they list 8.5″ rise in the details (which I consider a mid-rise). Do you think they are low or mid-rise?? Thanks!

That’s weird, because they don’t feel extremely low when I have them on. They feel more like a mid-rise. I hope this helps!

JUST found your blog via The Big Mama Blog and I’m hooked. I have a weekend trip with my husband to NYC coming up and those jeans are THE BEST…I’m going to totally try your “one pair of pants” idea. Great Post. I’m afraid I’m going to waste my day looking at your blog!
