Before and After: Entry and Powder Bath

I’ve saved the second best for the second to last before and after home post -ha! Before transforming the entry and powder bath, I considered these two rooms as insignificant. Like, no point spending money on them because they’re not big rooms. Since their transformation, I now realize how significant these rooms are and how much I use them in my day-to-day life. Every time I see them, I feel so grateful that we spent our time and energy on them! Ok, without further ado….

Entry Before:

Entry After:

Snowbound by Sherwin Williams, Phillip Jeffries Kelly Green, Stark Carpet Topper, Design Within Reach Eames® Molded Plastic Dowel-Leg Armchair, Aerin Selfoss Sconce, Ralph Lauren Home Marine Flush Mount

I use my front door almost as much as I use my back door. My boys come through the front door before and after school, we walk through the entry to get to our main living room, AND we go through the entry to go up the stairs. I just never knew I used my entry that much until we went with this BOLD green! Now, I get to see it and love it every day!

I have a funny story to tell you. When Ashley and I were discussing what to do with the entry, I showed her my inspiration picture of a green entry with a black and white runner. She said, “great”, and I said, “cool, now we just have to find a green paint”. I’m thinking, easy enough! And this is why she gets paid the big bucks. She said, in a very nice way, something like that instead of painting, we should probably do a green grass cloth because it’s a bit more sophisticated of a look. Now looking back on it, I think, duh!!! But that’s why I’m not an interior designer -ha!

Powder Bath Before:

Powder Bath After:

Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore, Ralph Lauren Home Bleecker Sconce, Restoration Hardware GRAMERCY SINGLE METAL WASHSTAND WITH BACKSPLASH, Furbish Studio Otomi Art, Laura Lee Art

This is probably the most used room in the entire downstairs (we only have one bathroom downstairs), so I wanted to do something really fun and cozy! We painted it all navy, even the ceiling, door and trim! Then I added a gallery of family pictures, sweet notes our boys have written or complimentary notes written to them, art work done by our family (we have lots of artists in our family), Bible verses, and little thing that bring our family joy. I actually love to use this restroom. I love to look at the pictures of our sweet boys when they were young and wander down memory lane. And my absolute favorite is a bunny etching my husband did when he was in high school. It’s always a topic of conversation at a dinner party. My plan is to fill every inch of wall with something! Well, maybe not the ceiling, going back to the sophistication point -ha!

I love this bathroom! You definitely achieved exactly what you wanted in that room. It wraps you with coziness and makes you feel like you have entered into the intimate sanctuary of the family that lives there because of everything on the walls. That sounds like an over-the-top comment but it’s true! I love small spaces painted in dark colors. Plus, the smells are yummy too…. 😉from the candle that burns during dinner parties and the Diptyque hand soap!
