I set out on a mission to find some new jeans that make me feel a little more hip/updated. I’ve seen a trend with jeans that are high waisted, have a vintage look, and a slightly wider leg than a skinny (aka stovepipe- fitted to the knee and then straight from the knee down), and I wanted to try the look out for myself! Some may call this the “mom jean” look, but since I’m a mom, I dunno about calling it that -ha! I felt if I could find a pair that looked good on me, it would a give new life to a lot of items in my closet!
Well, I found a few pairs and I wanted to share them! First is the pair pictured above and below:
These jeans are just what I was looking for! A stovepipe jean I felt good in that, to be honest, I didn’t think existed. Then I was texting with my self proclaimed “curvy” cousin one night about our recent purchases, and she had bought the exact same pair!
Are they the unicorn of mom jeans?!? Probably not because they are VERY EXPENSIVE, BUT I have 3 other better priced recommendations…
First are these jeans by Good American. If you’ve ever tried on Good American Jeans, you know they are like wearing leggings! They are stretchy!
Even the waistband stretches, which is why they are known for fitting a variety of women with different assets! These are also very flattering for this kind of style! For sizing reference, I am wearing a size 2. I would have liked to size down. Tighter is always better. Trust me.
The second pair are…
They look really cute cuffed, too!
If you love Madewell jeans…
…these are a great option! They were a little short on my 5′ 8″ frame. For sizing reference, I am wearing a size 25.
But let it be known, I will not be doing away with my skinny jeans! I will definitely still wear them a ton! They are still in style, and I love them!
While I was shopping for denim, I found some other great finds!
After going through quarantine and on our trip to Colorado, I realized all I have is workout leggings. And whether walking around the neighborhood, going on hikes, or hanging around the house, leggings can be downright hot!
So when I tried these shorts on at Lululemon, I knew they were winners. They are casual enough to wear on walks but I can also wear them to run errands, so I consider that a win/win.
For sizing reference, I am wearing a size 4. The shorts run small.
Then I found these workout shorts…
I’m pretty sure I’m the last person on the planet to fall in love with these Lululemon shorts because I see a lot of people in them, but I sure am glad I know about them now! They are EXTREMELY comfortable and very flattering for a workout short. My husband even complimented me on these shorts! They run small. I’m wearing the size 4.
I’m really into joggers right now (for obvious reasons).
I really like that these can be worn with heels, like the model, and just as easily with sneakers and flip flops.
That’s it! Even if you didn’t find anything that interests you in this post, I hope you found some inspiration to take back to your closets!
